37-year-old Caroline Seger faces a longer layoff due to injury.

In a post on Instagram, the midfield engine says that she had surgery on her hamstring.

“I gave everything I had, but this time I have to throw in the towel.

The operation is now complete," she writes.

“Could barely walk”

Seger also writes that she has been suffering from pain in the heel tendon for some time.

During the pre-camp for the EC, she went on a blast.

"In the EC's second match against Switzerland, I felt a burning sensation in my heel and afterwards I could hardly walk," writes Seger.

An MRI showed a rupture of the Achilles tendon.

"Unfortunately, I have to be without my beloved football for a while, but I am determined to come back.

I am not finished.

I want to finish in my way and my way is not complete”.

How long Seger will be out is unclear.

She plays everyday in Rosengård and has made a total of 227 international matches.
