The trial of Frenchman Benjamin Mendy, player of the English football team, Manchester City, began today, Monday, at Chester Crown Court in Britain.

The player who won the World Cup with France, faces 8 charges of rape, another charge of attempted rape, and one charge

of sexual abuse, and he denies all charges against him.

Mindy, 28, is accused of committing these crimes against 7 young women between October 2018 and August 2021.

Instead, we say it's a new chapter in a very old story, men who rape and sexually abuse women because they think they are strong and can get away with it," Attorney General Timothy Cray told the jury at Chester Crown Court.

Describing Mindy as a "predatory beast ready to commit serious sexual assaults," Cray said he showed ruthless indifference to the "weak, terrified and isolated" victims.

Mindy's partner

Mendy appeared before the court along with the other accused Luis Saha Matori (40 years), and Matori denies the charges against him, which are 8 charges of rape and 4 charges of sexual abuse against 8 young women, between July 2012 and August 2021.

Kray told the jury that Saha Matori was Mendy's friend and accomplice, and one of his tasks was to find "young women and create situations in which they could be raped and sexually assaulted."

The prosecutor confirmed that Mendy was a "famous player" and "because of his wealth and prestige, others showed their willingness to help him reach his ambitions."

According to the public prosecutor, the two defendants "knew well what they were doing, and were willing to cross the line of approval again and again."

The prosecution said that the jury will hear 13 women during the trial sessions, which may last three months, during which Mindy faces the possibility of facing a life sentence.

Benjamin Mendy spent the period from August 2021 to January 2022 in pretrial detention, and after his release he was placed under judicial supervision pending trial.
