Seeliger broke his old Swedish 50-meter backstroke record, 25.10, by 31 hundredths in Sunday's 50-meter backstroke attempt.

Only Ceccon and Greek Apostolos Christou were faster in the trials.

- I tried to be relaxed and not tense up too much, says Seeliger.

The tactic was to begin the first 25 meters calmly and then press on.

- Otherwise I tense up and die anyway, he says.

Seeliger also competed in the team race's 4x100 meter freestyle, together with Robin Hanson, Elias Persson, Marcus Holmqvist, during the morning, but there was no advancement there as the time was enough for the first reserve place.

However, Seeliger achieved a new personal best in the 100 meter freestyle, 46.46.

- I wanted to do the fastest possible time today, I did, so it was good, he says.

Neither Marcus Holmqvist, who managed to lower his personal best to 1.51.09, nor Robin Hanson, 1.49.20, advanced from the trials in the 200 meter freestyle.
