Novak Djokovic famously missed the Australian Open last winter after refusing to be vaccinated against covid-19.

The Serb has hoped to play the Grand Slam tournament, the US Open, which begins on August 29 in New York.

Djokovic was supposed to play a tournament in Cincinnati as a warm-up for the tournament, but he has now withdrawn.

The reason is that unvaccinated people are still not allowed to enter the US and therefore he cannot participate in the tournament.

Djokovic has won the US Open three times and lost the final to Daniil Medvedev last year.

The Serb has won 21 grand slam titles and is only one title behind Rafael Nadal who has the most titles.

Now it is unclear whether Djokovic will get the chance to play the US Open and catch up with Nadal.
