It was on Wednesday that the athletics star Anderson Peters was attacked by a group of men on a party boat, at a port in Grenada.

The incident is being investigated by police - who report that Peters sustained minor injuries in connection with the assault.

The 24-year-old's agent, Alfons Juck, tells SVT Sport that his client is still being examined by doctors.

- He is okay.

There are no spectacular injuries, nothing that dangerous.

Mostly bruises and bangs.

But he needs to be investigated more.

The Prime Minister: "Disturbed"

At the end of July, Peters won gold at the WC in Eugene.

Whether it affects Peter's participation in the upcoming Diamond League competition (August 26 in Lausanne) is unclear.

Juck says he may miss the competition.

- We will see what happens and what the surveys show.

But he feels okay and thanks for all the support, says Juck.

Among others, Grenada's Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell has expressed his support.

"I am troubled by the incident that our sports icon and world champion Anderson Peters was involved in," he writes on social media.
