The sumo wrestling tour, which was the first in about two years and eight months due to the influence of the new coronavirus, was held on the 11th at the venue in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and the fans who gathered were applauding the local wrestlers.

The sumo wrestling tour was the last to be canceled in the winter of the first year of Reiwa due to the spread of the new corona infection, but this month it resumed for the first time in about two years and eight months.

This time, it will be held in Tokyo and its surroundings as a measure to prevent infection, and it will be the first time in 31 years that it will be held in Koga City.

Approximately 2,200 fans gathered on the 11th, and when Takayasu from Tsuchiura City entered the ring for the makuuchi sumo wrestlers, the venue was filled with excitement.

In the following match, the fans held up a towel with "Takayasu" written on it and cheered, and when Takayasu won the match, a particularly big round of applause was sent.

In addition, the packed venue was greatly excited by the number one of Hiramaku Ichinojo and Ura, who won their first victory at the Nagoya tournament last month, and the number one of Yokozuna Terunofuji and Takakeisho Ozeki.

Takayasu said, "I could feel the power of the support from the locals at the full house. I will do my best until the end of the year at the autumn stage."

A man in his 20s from Koga City, who was visiting with his family, said, "It was my first time to see sumo wrestling live. I'm glad Takayasu's No. 1 was very powerful. I definitely want him to win the autumn tournament."
