The ax fell for Anthony Lopes.

The Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) on Wednesday imposed the maximum penalty of three firm suspension matches on the goalkeeper of Olympique Lyonnais, following his expulsion on Friday against Ajaccio during the 1st day of Ligue 1.

Lopes, 31, received a red card in OL's victory against Ajaccio (2-1) after an uncontrolled outing on Mounaïm El-Idrissy, whom he violently hit in the face.

The goalkeeper had only been sent off once before the match against Ajaccio.

The Portuguese international (14 caps) will therefore be absent for the next three days, in Lorient on August 14, against Troyes on August 19 and in Reims on August 28.
