Two delegates from the Professional Football League (LFP) are present in Lorient to check the condition of the lawn at the Moustoir stadium, where the Interceltic Festival is taking place, three days before the match against Olympique Lyonnais.

This meeting could be postponed, relocated, or maintained.

Concerns hang over the match between FC Lorient and Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday.

This meeting which counts for the second day of Ligue 1 must take place in the Breton city, but the problem is that the lawn of the Moustoir stadium is in a poor state, bruised by the trampling of the public of the Interceltic Festival last weekend .

The holding of the match is therefore suspended, and the Professional Football League (LFP) must decide very soon.

These concerns began following a photo posted on social media on Wednesday.

OL alerted the LFP organizing committee, and two delegates were sent on Thursday to examine the lawn, which appears to be 50% brown due to the drought and also because of the festival-goers.

Contacted by Europe 1, the staff of Olympique Lyonnais indicates that the group refuses to play on a degraded lawn which could promote injuries.

On the other side, Arnaud Tanguy, the general manager of Lorient, explained to the newspaper

L'Équipe

that the stadium's hybrid lawn was very passable.

But, there is still a concert at the Moustoir this Thursday evening, and that will not help matters.

A problem that could have been better anticipated

In this case, what is intriguing is that neither party saw this problem coming when it could easily be anticipated.

We know that the Interceltic Festival always takes place during this period, and that the calendar of the French championship was unveiled last July.

The two League delegates, present on site, will carry out a second examination of the lawn on Friday morning, which will lead to a definitive answer after noon.

This is when we will know if the FC Lorient - Olympique Lyonnais match is postponed, relocated or still scheduled for Sunday 1 p.m.
