Two golf courses in the Toulouse conurbation were damaged by activists from the environmental collective Kirikou, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, accusing them of excessive water consumption in the midst of drought.
Damaged land, holes blocked with cement, signs planted on the course, the activists targeted the Garonne golf course, located north of the city, and that of Vieille Toulouse, further south.
In this period of drought, the watering of golf courses is becoming more and more controversial, this is what the Kirikou collective denounces in a press release.
“The watering of greens, courses and golf tees is authorized by way of derogation due to the cost of maintaining these very luxurious grounds, he specifies.

Indeed, despite the heightened alert situation regarding drought in the Haute-Garonne department, golf courses can still be watered by means of a derogation.
The director plans to file a complaint
The director of the Garonne golf course, Nicolas Astier, defends himself against his accusations by replying that they only water the greens "These are people who are not well informed about our water consumption: we only water the greens , it is an area that is only half of a football field” The latter plans to file a complaint against the incriminated group.
