20-year-old Björn Seeliger has set a world time in yard pool in the USA.

On the other hand, he has not competed much in the long course, as it is now at the EC in Rome, but nevertheless set the Swedish record in the 50 meter backstroke at the WC as recently as July.

Can he sniff a medal if he gets a hit at the EC?

- Yes absolutely, he has the potential.

Now it's just a matter of him getting in shape and then bringing out the fine explosiveness, says SVT's expert Lars Frölander.

The doldis is a whopping 204 centimeters long.

Despite that, he is good technically.

- He is a very interesting swimmer.

For one thing, he is tall and swims technically well, and it feels like he is very naturally explosive.

But that there is a lot more to pick up, it will be very interesting to see, says Frölander.

The goal is the final

Seeliger will compete in three distances at the European Championships – 50 meter backstroke, 50 meter freestyle, and next up is the 100 meter freestyle on Friday.

- I think I want to reach the final in one of my distances.

I think I have an equally good, or bad, chance at all three, so I hope for one of them, he says.

Can you be there and sniff a medal, do you think?

- It depends on how everyone else swims.
