The new system means that the ten teams in the Toppserien first meet twice, then the top four teams in the table compete for the gold in a playoff.

The remaining six teams plus the two best teams from Division 1 settle for the remaining places in the league in a separate play-off.

If a team is not among the top four when the regular season is finished at the end of August, in other words, there is no chance of becoming Norwegian champion.

Something that several supporter clubs now strongly question.

- We don't think the playoffs feel like a real league game, because it goes against the basic principle that all matches count equally, writes the club Brann's supporter group Brann Bataljonen on its Twitter account.

Sees the top team in the regular season as the winner

According to NRK, Brann Bataljonen is supported by the supporter clubs Klanen (Vålerenga), Kanarifansen (Lillestrøm), Stabæk Support (Stabæk) and Kjernen (Rosenborg).

They have come together and announced that they will not organize during the playoffs as a protest and that their rightful winner will be the team atop the standings when the regular season ends on August 28.

Right now, SK Brann tops the table, five points ahead of Rosenborg.

Even the players have shown dissatisfaction with the new game system.

In an own survey NRK carried out in May, 98 out of 108 players in the Toppserien answered that they want to scrap the playoff solution.
