The United Arab Emirates women's football team for the UAE Special Olympics returned to the country, winning the silver medal in the Unified Special Olympics Cup, which was held in Detroit, Michigan, between July 31 and this 6.

The team included elite Emirati Special Olympics athletes with disabilities and mental challenges, and their non-disabled partners.

The team held a closed training camp for 12 days as part of the Abu Dhabi Sports Summer event, which was organized at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), after which it traveled to the United States to participate in the cup.

The Football Association, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, which provided free training spaces and the Integrated Transport Center, which provided transportation services during the camp, contributed to the support of the training camp.

The Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chair of the UAE Special Olympics Board of Trustees, Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, said in a press statement: “Our players spent a fruitful summer during which they achieved many achievements, from the Malta Games 2022 to the National Games in Austria 2022, and now the silver medal of the Special Olympics Unified Cup in Detroit. 2022, they have proven their ability to excel and excel in any sporting event they participate in, whatever its size.

We are honored to dedicate the victory of our women's team to the "Mother of the Emirates", Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, the first supporter of Emirati women and women's sports.
