The organizing committee revealed the details of the “Dubai Pro” bodybuilding championship for the Mr. Olympia Professional Championship, which will be held under the auspices of the Oxygen Club and in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council on October 22 and 23 at the Dubai World Trade Center.
This came during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Dubai Sports Council yesterday, during which Khaled Al Awar, Director of Communication and Marketing Department of the Dubai Council, Adel Al Ali, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the tournament, coach Ahmed Askar and Kuwaiti professional Ahmed Ashkanani spoke.
Khaled Al Awar said: “The Dubai Pro Championship will be a distinguished addition to our diverse annual calendar of events and acquires great importance as it qualifies Arab athletes to compete in the World Bodybuilding Championship (Mr. Olympia), and this championship will have a great impact due to the wide popularity of bodybuilding among all segments of society from Different ages and nationalities.
For his part, Al-Ali said: "The tournament will have the wide participation of the game's champions who took the bodybuilding platform in various international, continental and Arab forums, and amateur players from the UAE will have the opportunity to participate."
The tournament will be a qualifier for the participating professionals to qualify to play in the final of the 2022 Mr. Olympia Pro Championship that will be held in December in Las Vegas, United States, which is the highest title for all bodybuilding professionals in the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, and the winner of the Dubai Pro Championship will be awarded from the category The amateur title of “Champions” champion and gets a professional player card to participate in Mr. Olympia.
Participation is available to all nationalities from all over the world in the tournament, which is organized for the first time in the UAE, and it is the first time in the Middle East that the winners receive nine professional cards in the amateur category, as these cards qualify them to become professional players, while the winning professionals receive financial prizes. The tournament is a tourist festival for bodybuilding, and the number of amateur participants in the tournament is expected to reach more than 1,000 participants and more than 50 professionals from different countries of the world, and the arbitration process for the tournament will be managed by a group of international judges.
The championship includes six categories for professionals and amateurs: Physic - men's amateur, Classic Physic - men's amateur, and amateur bodybuilding, Physic - men's professional, Classic Physic - men's professional, and professional bodybuilding.
Ahmed Askar said: “Choosing Dubai to organize the tournament because it is a global city that attracts all nationalities and is open to all, and has all the facilities, starting with entry visas, travel, ease of flying to it, and has many advantages and amenities that the player needs from transportation, healthy restaurants, the largest hotels and entertainment, as well. It is distinguished by the international level in organizing events, and I send a message to the participants to adhere to good training and a healthy lifestyle.”
Ashkanani stressed: "We did not have any championship in the Gulf that gave a professional card for bodybuilding, and the presence of this championship is a great opportunity for Emiratis, Gulf nationals and participants of all categories."
The tournament is organized for the first time in the UAE, and qualifies the winners to participate in the international “Mr. Olympia” to be held in Las Vegas, America, next December.
