Tottenham beat Southampton by four and warn England's top

Tottenham Hotspur showed their clear desire to compete for the English Premier League title by beating their guest Southampton 4-1 in the opening round of the competition today.

Tottenham fell behind with a James Ward-Prowse goal in the 12th minute, but dominated the game and scored through goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier and Dejan Kulusevsky, as well as an own goal.

Southampton's lead lasted nine minutes, before Sessegnon equalized with a powerful header, in the net against goalkeeper Gavin Pazono, who appears in the Premier League for the first time, after a cross from Kulusevsky.

Dyer took advantage of Son Heung-min's cross and added the second goal with a header in the 31st minute, to take the hosts ahead.

Southampton's Muhammed Salisu failed to clear a cross from Emerson Royal and accidentally scored in the 61st minute, and two minutes later Royal made a goal for his colleague Kulusevsky, who shot brilliantly past goalkeeper Pazono.

Tottenham did not need the goals of the distinguished duo Son and Harry Kane, although they had many chances during the match.

Tottenham ended the match in complete control and coach Antonio Conte brought in his new players Ivan Perisic and Yves Bisuma, who received a yellow card and then came close to scoring.
