29-year-old Lovisa Modig is best known as a cross-country skier, where her main merit is a second place from a relay in the World Cup in Lahtis last year.

Today, she did a track race for the first time at an athletics competition, when she stood on the starting line at the Athletics SM in Norrköping - and it was a success.

Only Mengsteab was faster

She took silver, in a time of 34.53.22.

Thus, she was only beaten by Hälle's Samrawit Mengsteab, with 19.01.

- I have run a few test races and thought it would be fun to participate in the SM.

My expectations were not very high, but I still thought I would try to go for a medal and it went really well, says Modig on the athletics association's website.
