IFK Lidingö's 24-year-old Simon Sundström is primarily known as a good hurdler.

But today he took an unexpected SM gold in the 10,000 meters, despite being ten meters behind the tight duo with one and a half laps to go, and that he was "only" third when he entered the sprint.

But there he ran past both Hässelby's Samuel Russom and Eskilstuna's Emil Millán de la Oliva, and took SM gold in a time of 28.41.40.

- What a race he is doing, exclaims SVT Sports expert Alhaji Jeng.

"I am satisfied"

A few minutes later, he admitted to SVT Sport that he was surprised that it was he who took the SM gold.

- I actually thought it had been run several times.

But I am satisfied in retrospect that I saved my strength for the last part, he said.

- I've had many good weeks with the training, so I thought it should be able to go well.

But I didn't think I would handle 10,000 this well.
