Mbappe misses Saint-Germain's first game in the French League

Paris Saint-Germain begins Saturday the defense of the French League title against its host Clermont without its star Kylian Mbappe, due to an injury to the adductor muscle, according to the Parisian club.

Saint-Germain said in a statement today that Mbappe, "who suffers in the adductor muscle, will remain under care in the exercise center. The situation will be evaluated within 72 hours."

Mbappe, who decided to extend his contract with the capital club instead of moving to Real Madrid, had previously missed the Champions Cup match, which brings together the league and cup champions annually, and which Saint-Germain won over Nantes 4-0 on Sunday, due to the suspension.

Saint-Germain is playing the season under the leadership of a new coach, Christophe Galtier, who succeeded the sacked Argentine Mauricio Pochettino from his position, despite his success in leading the team to regain the league title from Lille.

Mbappe remains the cornerstone of Saint-Germain's formation and the most important deal he made this summer through his success in countering Real Madrid's attempts, thus ensuring his survival until 2025. Galtier promised, who imposed during the preparatory matches, his style with three defenders (3-4-1-2). "We will continue to work with pace and intensity, and correct mistakes."

The Qatari-owned team invested about 100 million euros before August in the summer transfer period, looking to break the partnership with Saint-Etienne (10 titles), which was relegated last season to the second division with Metz and Bordeaux.

Galtier strengthened his team in the midfield by including the Portuguese Renato Sanches from Lille and Vitina from Porto, in addition to signing international defender Nordi Mukiele from Leipzig and striker Hugo Eketiki from Reims.
