When Fifa earlier this year opened the possibility for players in Russian clubs to pause their contracts, Jordan Larsson returned home to Sweden to play in AIK.

There were three goals and two assists in eleven Allsvenskan matches.

His loan deal expired at the end of June and in connection with that he agreed with his club, Spartak Moscow, to terminate his contract.

This meant that 25-year-old Larsson had a free choice of his next club destination.

Now it is clear that he will play for Schalke 04.

- I am very happy about this transition.

Schalke have made impressive strides in recent months, which I have followed closely from afar.

I look forward to becoming part of the team and contributing to a successful season, says Jordan Larsson to the German club's website.

After many years in the Bundesliga, Schalke were relegated to the second division ahead of the 2021/22 season.

With a strong season, they made sure to jump up to the top league directly with a return for the coming season.

Larsson's contract with Schalke runs until the summer of 2025. At the club, he gets to wear number 7 on his back.
