The Swedish medal success in the JVM in athletics continues.

After yesterday's silver and bronze in the decathlon on the men's side, Emma Sralla has now also secured a blue-yellow gold.

Emma Sralla was the early favorite for the gold with a world best of 56.38 in Texas in April.

And the Swedish 18-year-old had no major worries about also securing the gold in Cali in Colombia on the night of Thursday, Swedish time.

The first throw was in itself not approved, but the second reached 54.94, which would have been enough for gold.

But Sralla had much more in him and reached 56.15 in the fourth throw.

-She came in as the favorite and the one who threw the longest in the world this year.

To make a throw that is almost as far when it is needed the most, it indicates that we are dealing with a huge competitive person, says Mikael Wennolf to TT.

"Be Superior"

The silver was taken by Despoina Areti Filippidou of Greece in 54.48, followed by South African Miné de Klerk in 53.54.

- She (Emma) was superior, with the two longest throws, but it was very even behind her.

It was a couple of the other girls who had the potential to throw far, says Wennolf.

TT: How did she react to the victory?

- She was incredibly happy and rushed around and chirped and jingled.

There's no mistaking when Emma is happy, and now she's very happy when she's junior world champion.

As a 17-year-old (turns 18 in September), Sralla can also compete next year in the class known as U20.

- Which makes it even more impressive, because it is a branch that requires experience, technique and a lot of muscle and resilience, says Wennolf.
