The Fatima Bint Mubarak Women's Sports Academy announced the launch of the inaugural Fatima Bint Mubarak Gulf Women's Volleyball Cup 2022, which will be held in Abu Dhabi from the 26th to the 31st of this month, at the Jujitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City.

This came during a press conference, which was held at the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council yesterday, in the presence of Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Amal Al-Afifi, member of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Awad Al-Mansoori, member of the Board of Directors of the Volleyball Federation, and Fatima Al-Amiri. A representative of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, along with a number of media representatives and event partners.

Six teams will participate in the upcoming event, which will be held in conjunction with the celebrations of Emirati Women's Day, with 72 players, three teams from the Emirates (Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for Women's Sports Team, Al Wasl Team and Sharjah Women's Team), while Saudi Arabia's Noura Club and Salwa Club will participate in the event. Al Hashemi said: "The tournament is a distinctive addition to the schedule of sporting events hosted by Abu Dhabi throughout the year."

For his part, Al-Mansoori said: “We are pleased to have a role in launching the first edition, and we hope that this tournament will be successful for all participating teams and players. For her part, Amal Al-Afifi said: “The launch of the inaugural edition represents an important moment in the history of Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy, to continue our journey in creating pioneering opportunities that enhance women’s participation and highlight their role in sports events.”

The participating teams are divided into two groups, and the first qualifying round will be held from the 26th to the 28th of this month, while the semi-finals will start on the 30th of this month, then the first four places will be determined on the 31st of it, and the fans will have the opportunity to watch two matches per day.
