China News Service, Beijing, August 2. According to the China Taekwondo Association, on the 1st Beijing time, the World Taekwondo Federation Joint Conference was held in Bulgaria.

At the meeting, the first members of the World Taekwondo Hall of Fame were officially announced.

Chen Zhong, a Chinese taekwondo player and two-time taekwondo Olympic champion, was selected.

  In the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Taekwondo became an official Olympic sport for the first time.

At the age of 18, Chen Zhong won the first Olympic gold medal for China in the women's 67kg class and the first Olympic gold medal in the history of world taekwondo.

  Four years later, at the Athens Olympics, Chen Zhong, with more comprehensive technical and tactical abilities, became the first defending Olympic champion in the Taekwondo event.

Since then, Chen Zhong has won gold medals in the Doha Asian Games and World Championships in 2006 and 2007, becoming the first taekwondo player to win the Olympic Games, Intercontinental Championships and World Championships.

  According to the China Taekwondo Association, Chen Zhong has always insisted on engaging in sports and is committed to the popularization and promotion of Taekwondo among young people.

Chen Zhong participated in the award ceremony through a video connection on the same day. In her speech, she said that after becoming a member of the Hall of Fame, she will keep in mind the spirit of taekwondo and make more contributions to the development of the world taekwondo movement.
