The UAE is entering the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games.

With 53 male and female athletes competing in nine different individual sports.

The Turkish city of Konya will host the activities of the tournament from 9 to 18 January, with the participation of 6000 athletes from 56 countries competing in 24 sports through 483 sports competitions in 13 different locations, attended by 2,000 volunteers.

The UAE participates in archery, bow and arrow, bow and arrow for people of determination, karate, judo, taekwondo, fencing, weightlifting, swimming, and cycling.

The National Olympic Committee approved the selection of Brigadier General Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, member of the committee's executive office, as head of the UAE delegation in the session, and Butti Al Abdooli, director of sports federations affairs in the committee, was chosen as the head of the delegation.

The national cycling team begins its journey in the session the day after tomorrow with the track competitions, which will last for four days.

The team also participates in road competitions.

The UAE national team includes nine riders in this session, including six men, "Yousef Mirza, Ahmed Al-Mansoori, Jaber Al-Mansoori, Khaled Al-Mayouf, Saif Al-Kaabi, and Walid Al-Naqbi", and three women "Safiya Al-Sayegh, Sheikha Issa, and Zahra Hussein".

Brigadier General Ahmed Al Zeyoudi stressed the importance of achieving gains and goals, putting the name of the nation above all considerations, and completing the achievements, successes and results of the UAE sport, whether in the past editions of the tournament or in all the sporting benefits in which the people of the Emirates bear the responsibility of representing the state.

He expressed his pride in the precious trust and his selection as head of the UAE delegation in this session, extending his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee.

He said: "Through these strong sports stations, we seek to convey many messages, not only by focusing on the results and the colorful medals, but rather by reflecting the bright image of the homeland, the unique position and the good reputation with which the UAE was known to the whole world, which increases our responsibility during the Solidarity Games. Islamic.”

He added, "Through this participation, we aspire to ascend the podiums and raise the nation's flag in a forum of this size, in addition to our great confidence in our athletes of determination, who will participate in the bow and arrow competitions."

Al Zeyoudi pointed out that the participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games comes after the success of the UAE sports delegations in achieving distinguished results during the entitlements that were held this year at the Gulf level in the third Gulf Games in Kuwait last May, and the World Games in Birmingham in the US last July. Emphasizes the importance of moving forward in the process of collecting medals and first places, and enhancing the final outcome in each participation.
