For all the allure and excitement the Premier League has to offer, there is fear that Manchester City and Liverpool will continue to dominate, threatening the reputation of the competition known as the open competition at the top.

But the remaining members of the "Big Six" intend to at least reduce the gap when they return to competition on Friday and restore the spirit of the competition, whose results are difficult to predict.

City won 4 titles in the last 5 seasons, while Liverpool tasted success in 2020 the only time they stopped Pep Guardiola's team.

Since Chelsea's crowning in 2017, a year after Leicester City surprisingly won the title, the competition has not known a winner from outside the two clubs in northwest England.

Conti is coming strong

Chelsea's success was achieved under coach Antonio Conte, who has now moved to north London with Tottenham Hotspur and aspires to threaten the dominance of Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp.

Spurs finished fourth last season and qualified for the Champions League, but the Italian coach's improvement and smart moves in the transfer window have created a feeling that they can go further in the new season.

And Brazilian Richarlison joined from Everton to a strong attacking line in Tottenham, including England captain Harry Kane and South Korean Son Heung-min, the league's top scorer last season, equal to Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, with 23 goals.

Croatian Ivan Perisic, who collaborated with Conte at Inter Milan, will bring additional capabilities to Tottenham and give Brighton's Yves Bisoma vitality to the midfield.

Chelsea did not give up

Chelsea and coach Thomas Tuchel finished third last season, but their domestic attempts to build on their coronation in the 2021 European Champions League collapsed amid the sanctions imposed on their former owner, Russian Roman Abramovich.

The new owner group, headed by American Todd Boyle, has now taken the helm at Stamford Bridge and Tuchel has moved to revamp his line-up.

And quickly ended the modest return of Romelu Lukaku to return to Inter Milan on loan, and replaced by Chelsea striker Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.

Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen left their places in the Chelsea defense, but the arrival of Senegalese central defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli will ease the burden.

Amazing moves for Arsenal

Arsenal developed slowly under the leadership of Spanish coach Mikel Arteta and finished last season in fifth place and his movements were impressive in the transfer market, enhancing his chances of returning to the golden square.

Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus and Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko joined from Manchester City and are expected to raise the efficiency of Arteta's team.

Fabio Vieira, 22, from Porto, will be an option to support a young midfield.

Manchester United doubts

Manchester United were supposed to make drastic changes this summer after a difficult season in which coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lost his position and interim coach Ralf Rangnick failed to improve the situation.

Doubts remain about Cristiano Ronaldo's staying at the club, and the expected transfer revolution has not occurred.

And the new coach, Eric Ten Hag, included central defender Lisandro Martinez from his former club Ajax Amsterdam and left back Tyril Malacia from Feyenoord, and Denmark's Christian Eriksen joined on a free transfer after a period in Brentford that showed his health recovery.

But the club's main target in the transfer window, Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, continues at Barcelona despite the United's hard efforts to bring him to Old Trafford.

Amal Newcastle

Newcastle United, backed by Saudi investors, hopes to join Post Ham United and Leicester City among the competing clubs to enter the top six, despite its lack of activity in the transfer market, contrary to expectations.

The three emerging clubs, Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, will be content to stay in the spotlight for another year.

Forrest returned after an absence of 23 years and was the most active in the transfer period, and his most prominent deals were striker Jesse Lingard, who joined from Manchester United.
