Chiho Osawa, who served as the captain of the Japanese women's ice hockey team "Smile Japan" for three consecutive games, including the Beijing Olympics, has announced that she will retire.

Osawa is 30 years old from Tomakomai City, Hokkaido.



At the age of 6, he started playing ice hockey under the influence of his father, who had played for the Japanese national team, and was selected for the Japanese national team for the first time at the age of 16.



Osawa, who has also played for teams in the United States and Sweden, is a forward with a variety of attacks that make use of his speed and physical strength that does not lose against foreign players. She has been the captain of the Japanese women's ice hockey team "Smile Japan" for consecutive tournaments, and has played an active role as the team's core player.



At the Beijing Olympics, she qualified for the final tournament for the first time after finishing first in her group in the qualifying league, finishing sixth.



The office to which Osawa belongs announced on the 1st that Osawa will retire.



She said that Osawa will hold a press conference in Sapporo on August 10th.
