Spaniard Fernando Alonso, double Formula 1 world champion in 2005 and 2006, will leave the Alpine team to race in 2023 at Aston Martin, the English team announced in a press release on Monday.

Alonso celebrated his 41st birthday on Friday.

He finished 8th on Sunday in the Hungarian Grand Prix.

He finished 8th in the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, ahead of his French teammate Esteban Ocon, and currently sits 10th in the World Championship after 13 out of 22 races with 41 points.

Succeeds Sebastian Vettel
