The German soccer players have entered the final of the European Championship in England.

The team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg beat France 2-1 (1-1) in the semi-finals on Wednesday evening in Milton Keynes and will now meet hosts England at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

International media write about this:

France:

"L'Equipe":

"The dream is shattered.

Defeated by a double hit by Alexandra Popp, France fails in front of the doors of the European Championship final.

The French put up a fierce fight with the Germans, but it became the graveyard of their illusions.”

"Ouest France": "Popp has buried the French dream.

With its experience, Germany shattered the dream of the first international final.

The first half was a masterpiece of German collective work.

The German Wall could not be overcome.”

"Libération": "The French do not pass the German crash test in the semi-finals.

With her brace, the German striker Alexandra Popp was their tormentor.”

"Le Monde": "Germany ends France's dream of a final.

(...) The summer dream of the first international title in their history was extinguished by Germany in the semifinals of the European Championship.

(...) The French women will remember the name of Alexandra Popp from this tournament for a long time.”

"Le Parisian":

"The promise that the Bleues made after the quarter-finals to reach Wembley fell to pieces against the German wall.

The mistakes in the consistent conclusion were paid dearly.

The Bleues wanted to, but couldn't because the Germans were physically superior – also because of the two days longer preparation time.”

"Le Figaro":

“The blue dream of the first final is over.

(...) As at the 2011 World Cup or the 2012 Olympic Games, the French stumbled just one step away from a major international final.

In a game that paradoxically eluded them just when Germany seemed to be in the most trouble.

A cruel scenario.”

"Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace": "And in the end Germany wins.

While men have managed to put an end to this old adage for a number of years, French women footballers will have to be patient.”

"Courrier de l'Ouest":

“France paid for the lack of freshness and the lack of goal threat.

The Bleues were given a tactical lesson and left the tournament frustrated and disappointed.”

Great Britain:

"The Guardian": "England against Germany, in the final of the European Championship, in a sold-out Wembley Stadium.

Loved hated, it's a game that captures the attention of the host nation like no other, in any sport, in any arena.

With all the breathtaking moments that England's players have experienced on their way to the final, there will be no one quite like Popp at Wembley on Sunday.

Popp is unstoppable.”

"Daily Mail"

:

"Here come the Germans!

England meet a familiar opponent in the final of the Euro 2022 on Sunday after the eight-time European champions beat France 2-1 with two relentlessly completed goals from Alexandra Popp.”

The Sun:

"

POP STAR.

England will meet Germany in the EURO 2022 final after captain Alexandra Popp gave her side a two-goal lead against France.”

"Evening Standard":

“Germany delivers again on the big stage.

Just a month ago, Popp seemed to have a cursed relationship with this competition.

Now, thanks to their goals, Germany is just one win away from reclaiming the title.”

Sweden:

"Aftonbladet":

"Alexandra Popp is on the way to becoming the great queen of the European Championship."

“express”:

"Not even an own goal by the goalkeeper could stop Germany.

Alexandra Popp became the game's heroine when France were defeated 2-1.

Now a classic awaits against England in the final.”

"SVT": "Germany is ready for the European Championship final in Wembley.

This is thanks to Alexandra Popp, who has now entered the history books.”

Denmark:

"DR": "Finals call for great players and great nations.

It will be best against best when England and Germany meet at Wembley.”
