A new strategy for developing talent in "Athletics"

Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Sports Authority, met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Athletics Federation, Major General Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr, the Secretary-General of the Federation Nasser bin Ashour, and members of the Board of Directors Faisal Al-Khamiri and Rashid Nasser, to start developing new strategic provisions. The federation is developing a mechanism for discovering and developing talents and enhancing the chances of national teams to achieve continental and international achievements in light of the selection of athletics among the priority sports.

Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum said: “The authority is working with priority sports federations to develop new strategies aimed at strengthening governance within the federations and developing administrative work, which helps to improve the work of the federations and pave the way for achieving more continental and international achievements, in line with the objectives of the sector strategy. Al-Riyadi 2032, which all federations are essential partners in achieving.”

He continued: "The authority, with the federations, looks forward to enhancing opportunities for achieving international achievements by studying talents in each age group and setting appropriate programs to develop them, in addition to developing plans to enhance the presence of sports in society, specifically among students, with the aim of developing a mechanism for attracting talent, which is what It will be enhanced by the presence of priority sports within the school games project.”

Major General Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr said: “The selection of athletics among the priority sports is an incentive for all male and female athletes to exert maximum efforts in pursuit of continental and international achievements that contribute to raising the flag of the state in various forums, and we look forward, in cooperation with the authority, to developing our partnerships with all government agencies and sector institutions. This contributes to the development of the mechanism of practicing athletics, and helps to discover new talents with suitable physical characteristics in terms of height, speed and strength, which contributes to enhancing our chances of achieving continental and international achievements.”

During the meeting, the forms addressed to all priority sports federations were presented, which include detailed tables on the talents in each age group and plans to develop them, in addition to studying the work mechanism within the federation to determine ways to enhance governance, as this meeting paves the way for holding a series of workshops with the aim of formulating full strategy items.
