The WC in Eugene ended with a fifth place for Pettersson and a season's best in the qualifier with a throw that measured 68.11.

But in Tuesday's GP competition in Söderhamn, on the day one week after the discus final in the World Cup, it was no longer than 63.25 for the Swedish discus thrower whose season leading up to the World Cup had been a bit brittle.

In the evening's competition, he also had three invalid throws that went into the protective net around the ring and at one point lashed out with his arms in frustration.

The winner was Robert Urbanek from Poland who threw 62.46.

- I can't say I'm satisfied in any way, I had hoped to be able to perform better, says Pettersson afterwards in SVT's broadcast.

- There is a lot of technology today that does not work.

I don't get it right at the start, I get a bit of a light swing and miss in the middle and then everything just becomes a pancake.

Now he waits a few days at home in Upland Sixarby, before Petterson recharges for the SM in Växjö and then the EC in Munich, which starts on August 11.
