Swedish superstar Armand Duplantis is chasing his first outdoor WC gold.

During the night of Saturday, he passed the qualification in Eugene.

The 22-year-old stepped in at 5.65 – which he managed by a good margin – and then flew over the bar at 5.75.

- There was pressure in the jump.

He gets paid well there, says Alhaji Jeng about the jump.

Greg Duplantis, father and coach, is pleased with the qualification.

- Almost immediately.

We chose a slightly too soft rod in the first jump, but he is doing well and feels in shape, he says.

Duplantis is thus ready for the final, which will be decided during the night of Monday.
