Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce defies the laws of time.

And we have to believe that it is not over.

The Jamaican sprinter, 35, won her fifth world champion title in the 100m on Sunday in Eugene, in 10''67.

An exceptional time, if we compare it to the controversial world record of 10”49 of the American Florence Griffith-Joyner dating from 1988. No one had ever run so fast in the world final.

But Fraser-Pryce is not yet satisfied.

“I firmly believe that I am able to run faster, and as I believe in it, I will not stop until I have done so, launched the Caribbean in the mixed zone.

The secret of my success is that I am a competitor.

I love competition and I believe God gave me a gift.

I work hard, I am diligent, determined, and I always want more.

Fraser-Pryce, who edged compatriots Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah for a fabulous Jamaican hat-trick, has yet to race the 200m and 4x100m in Eugene.

"It was definitely something we had in mind," she added, referring to Jamaica's hat-trick in the women's 100m final.

“I'm happy that we were able to do it, and to have finished first of the three.

We knew that the United States had done the triple in the 100m, we couldn't let them steal the show!

Pregnancy break in 2017

The uniquely long-lived sprinter has been running faster than ever and continues to win the biggest titles since giving birth to son Zyon in the summer of 2017. “My motivation is stronger than before.

It's hard for girls.

We girls are so afraid to start our family, people think that we can never come back after a pregnancy, ”she explained in Lausanne in July 2021.

“Making this comeback was important to show myself and others that it was possible to break down barriers.

And I am happy to have taken the time, this break after eleven years of high level which are mentally exhausting, ”she added.
