The draw for the 2022-2023 season for professional competitions will be held Friday in Khorfakkan

The UAE Professional League has completed arrangements for holding the draw for the new season 2022-2023, for the ADNOC Professional League and the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, at 6 pm on Friday, July 15, in the drawing break in Khorfakkan in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The Professional League will continue to implement the smart electronic lottery system "electronic lottery", which it had previously applied last season, in accordance with the initiatives stemming from the League's strategy 2020-2030, in applying the highest standards and methods of innovation and development in all organizational aspects of professional competitions.

The electronic lottery will be applied to the ceremonies of the ADNOC Professional League, similar to the system adopted in major international leagues, where the electronic system depends on technical standards in the first place, according to the arrangement of the teams in the last season 2021-2022, by distributing matches with the maximum degree of organization possible, according to different conditions. other.

The electronic lottery will also take into account the balance of important matches, with a maximum of two matches in each round, and no team will play more than two consecutive matches inside or outside its home, taking into account the dates of matches in the same city.

The electronic lottery in the first round will ensure that each team plays 6 matches at home and 7 away, or vice versa at least, with each team given a break of at least 3 days between each two matches.

As for the ADIB Cup, the first round matches will be played in two matches, with a knockout system to advance to the quarter-finals, with Al Ain and Shabab Al-Ahly teams directly advancing to the quarter-finals, as Al Ain Club is the champion of the last version of the two ADNOC League competitions. For professionals and the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, as for Al-Shabab Al-Ahly Club, as the runners-up for the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup. The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be played in two home and away matches as well, while the final will be played in one match.

The numbers of the matches of the first round are placed in the first pot (from No. 1 to No. 6), and the teams that play the matches on their court are determined first in the first round, and ensuring justice among all teams through the lottery is based on the following:

Matches 1 to 3: The first match will be played on the courts of the teams drawn from the second pot, of the teams higher in the standings.

Matches 4 to 6: The first match will be played on the courts of the teams drawn from the third pot of the teams lower in the standings.

The twelve teams are divided into two pots, based on the standings of the 2021-2022 season, so that the second pot is for the higher-ranking teams, and the lowest-ranked teams are in the third pot as follows:

The first group includes clubs (Sharjah - Al Wahda - Al Jazira - Al Wasl - Ajman - Al Nasr).

The second group includes clubs (Bani Yas - Khorfakkan - Ittihad Kalba - Al Dhafra - Dibba Al Fujairah - Al Bataeh).

Then the match number is drawn, and then the two competing teams are drawn until all matches are completed.

It is worth noting that the Professional League had held a workshop last month to discuss the proposals for the new season’s agenda, in the presence of professional clubs, and it was agreed on all aspects of the new season’s competitions, and everything related to the specific rules for the number of players in the various categories of registration.
