China News Service, Beijing, July 12. According to the International Table Tennis Federation, the ITTF and the International Olympic Committee released the 2024 Paris Olympics table tennis qualifying system.

According to the ITTF, the system will ensure that the world's best athletes can compete in the Olympics and present exciting games to spectators.

Qualifiers will start in June 2023.

  According to the rules, the 2024 Paris Olympics table tennis competition will consist of five events: men's and women's singles, men's and women's teams, and mixed doubles.

The total number of athletes participating remains at 172 (86 men and 86 men), including 6 host places and 2 participation places (universality places).

Each NOC is limited to 3 men and 3 men each.

  There are 16 teams in the team competition, and each national and regional Olympic committee can send 3 players to form a representative team.

The mixed doubles competition also has 16 pairs, and each national and regional Olympic committee can send one pair.  

  In terms of singles, according to the remaining places after the allocation of mixed doubles places, a maximum of 70 men and women can participate in the singles competition, and each national and regional Olympic committee can send a maximum of 4 athletes (two men and two women).

Two athletes from each participating team are shortlisted for the singles event.

  The hosts will be awarded 2 team spots (one for each gender), 4 singles spots (2 for each gender) and 1 mixed doubles spot.

  The Olympic table tennis competition will be held from July 27 to August 10, 2024, with the first final on July 30.

The venue for the competition is Hall 4 of the Arena de Paris Sud, an exhibition and conference centre that will be the main competition centre for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

  Table tennis first appeared in the Olympic Games in 1988, when there were 4 events of men's, women's singles and doubles.

In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the doubles competition was changed to a team competition, and the total number of events was still 4.

The Tokyo Olympics added mixed doubles, bringing the total number of events to five.
