England enters the European Championships as one of the big gold favorites.

In the premiere, which is played at Old Trafford, which seats about 75,000 spectators, Austria is waiting - and the English team is ready.

- We long to start the first match, says striker Beth Mead.

All three matches in the group stage are sold out, which means an audience figure of over 70,000 spectators.

- I think the fans will be very important to us this summer.

We will face setbacks, so the hope is that our fans will be the twelfth player to help us, says Mead.

The audience record in the European Championship context, 41,301 from the final in 2013 between Germany and Norway at Friends arena, is thus expected to break tonight.

The premiere between England and the Netherlands starts at 21.00.
