Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Sports Authority, stressed the importance of working to develop the performance of national teams to enhance Olympic attendance and consolidate the presence of Emirati sports in international sports forums.

This came when he received Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, and Mohammed Al Obaidli, Secretary General of the Sailing and Rowing Federation, member of the International Sailing Federation, in the presence of Abdulaziz Al-Hussan Al Shamsi, Director of the Competitive Sports Department at the Authority.

The visit dealt with ways to develop sailing and rowing and enhance the UAE's opportunities to host international activities, and ways to enhance cooperation with government agencies and private sector institutions to expand the popular base for the two sports, and opportunities to attract new talents and work to develop them.

The meeting also dealt with ways to enhance governance in the work of the union, and find the best mechanisms to support the development of administrative work.

Sheikh Suhail bin Butti said that the authority supports the efforts of the federations by developing strategies to develop a mechanism for discovering and developing talent, in line with the strategy of the sports sector 2032, to enhance the presence of Emirati sports in the Olympic Games, and we are working with the federation to enhance opportunities to host continental and international activities, to consolidate the position of the UAE as the capital International in various sports.

He added that the positive results in sailing and rowing reflect the great work of the federation in developing the two games, and the UAE's ability to achieve a distinguished presence in international sporting forums, and we also appreciate the federation's efforts in developing women talents capable of achieving great international successes in the future, which supports the authority's efforts to support The presence of the female component in the sports sector.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan thanked the authority for its support of the federation’s efforts to develop sports, and said: “We are working in the federation to achieve the best cooperation with clubs to prepare a future generation that is physically and mentally empowered in line with the directives of our wise leadership, and the authority’s aspirations to enhance opportunities in achieving International achievements, and we are working to take advantage of the UAE’s distinctive coastal nature and the country’s good global reputation, to enhance opportunities to host continental and international championships in sailing and rowing.”
