THE ESSENTIAL

  • The first stage of the Tour de France takes place this Friday, a 13.2 km time trial through the streets of Copenhagen.

  • The first runner will start at 4:00 p.m., the last - defending champion Tadej Pogacar - at 6:55 p.m.

The flat route in the wide avenues of the Danish capital, without sharp turns, will favor heavy riders.

  • The big favorite of the day is the reigning double world champion in the time trial, Filippo Ganna (Ineos).

We will also monitor the performance of Wout Van Aert and the contenders for the final victory, Pogacar and Roglic

  • On the French side, the most anticipated French riders for the next three weeks, Romain Bardet, Thibaut Pinot, David Gaudu or Guillaume Martin, are not exercise specialists.

The best in this field, Bruno Amirail and Rémi Cavagna, were not selected for this Tour by their respective teams.

Hey hey!

Yes, that means hello in Danish, and it's obviously circumstances for this big start of the Tour de France from Copenhagen this year.

A double event, since the Tour had never started so far - moreover, there will be a day off from Monday to repatriate all these little people - and it's been a while since we had the right to a timer to start the race.

Who will be in yellow at the end of the 13 terminals on the program in the streets of the Danish capital?

We don't see how this first jersey could escape Filippo Ganna, but you know us, we like surprises.

>> See you around 3:30 p.m. to gently stir up the sauce before the first runner leaves...
