The President's Medal of Freedom is the United States' foremost civilian award given to individuals who have made meritorious efforts for the country's security, world peace, cultural or other public or private efforts.

On Friday, the White House went out with a press release that President Joe Biden will hand out the medal to thirteen new people.

Two who are awarded the honor are gymnast Simone Biles, 25, and football player Megan Rapinoe, 36.

Most successful of all time

Simone Biles is America's most successful gymnast of all time.

Despite being only 25 years old, she has won 32 Olympic and World Cup medals.

Megan Rapinoe made her debut in the American national football team in 2006 and has won both Olympic gold and double World Cup gold.

The ceremony will be held at the White House on July 7.

It is noteworthy that the Swedish golf legend Annika Sörenstam was awarded the medal last year by then-President Donald Trump.
