29-year-old Westberg - who has taken two podium places in team sprint in the World Cup in his career - was poked from the national team this year.

Afterwards, he criticized the union.

On Thursday, he won the men's mass start in roller skis over 20 kilometers in Linköping after a sprint battle, 0.3 seconds ahead of Erik Silfver.

In the victory interview afterwards, Westberg called for more participants at the Swedish Championship week.

- I think this is one of the most fun competitions of the whole year.

It is a pity that there are not more people going, that you camp and so on at the same time, it is too bad, says Westberg.

The cross-country skier himself has been a given feature of the Swedish Championship week over the years.

- I have ridden all the years I could.

It's fun, fun competitions, you learn a lot about tactics and positioning and you earn some money, yes, everything possible.

I just see it as positive.

The winner on the women's side, Linn Sömskar, is also critical of the turnout.

- It's very boring.

I would have liked to have seen more people join.

It's way too thin on the women's side now, she says.

Tomorrow new competitions await, then in sprint.
