German tennis player Tamara Korpatsch has sharply criticized her French doubles partner Harmony Tan for withdrawing at short notice from the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon.

Tan only wrote to her an hour before the planned first round game, the 27-year-old from Kaltenkirchen wrote on Instagram on Wednesday.

She was "very sad, disappointed and also very angry".

Tan had beaten superstar Serena Williams from the USA in singles the night before in more than three hours and three sets.

On Wednesday she canceled the doubles due to injury.

"It's very unfair to me.

I didn't deserve that," Korpatsch wrote.

"Before the tournament she asked me if we wanted to play doubles, I said yes.

I didn't ask her, she asked me."

Korpatsch complained that anyone who was broken after a three-hour match the day before "couldn't play professionally".

In singles she was eliminated in the first round against Brit Heather Watson.
