Bundesliga returnee Mario Götze is currently not thinking about the World Cup in Qatar or a comeback in the German national team.

“The most important thing for me is that I get better myself.

Everything else is far away for me.

The last international match was a few years ago.

I had a certain role there, it was very close.

It's not an issue for me at the moment," said the 30-year-old on Tuesday at his performance at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Götze played his last international match in November 2017.

National coach Hansi Flick was among the well-wishers when the change to the Hessian Europa League winner was fixed, revealed Götze.

"My focus is clearly on my training and on the games and getting the best out of them.

Everything else is currently not in my head.

It's too far away for that," said Götze, who scored the winning goal against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final.

Götze with family to Frankfurt

Not only he will live in the Main metropolis in the future, but also his family.

“We will move here, we will have our center of life here.

I look forward to getting to know that.

I have two or three friends that I visit from time to time.

The connection to the stadium and airport, the people – all of that is a great combination and also speaks for the city,” said Götze.

He is looking forward to experiencing the city in a new way.

Meanwhile, the former world champion does not feel any particular pressure on his return to Germany.

"It's appreciation, that's a positive thing.

It also speaks to what I have achieved in recent years.

It's nice, but my focus is on the club and what's coming now," said Götze, who signed a contract in Frankfurt up to and including June 30, 2025.

Götze had previously completed the first training session at Eintracht under head coach Oliver Glasner.

"It felt very, very positive.

Especially given the conditions with many fans and good weather.

I'm very happy," said Götze.

Many factors spoke in favor of the Hessians: “On the one hand the club, the emotional fans, the stadium, the league.

It was a good package all round.

Also the discussions with the responsible persons.

The package together made me sign here,” said Götze.
