The European Championship premiere in Frýdek-Místek in the eastern Czech Republic was on the program for the Swedish U19 girls.
Germany, who barely made it to the playoffs with a penalty win against Finland in the last qualifying match, had a hard time resisting the Swedes in the beginning.
In the 29th minute also came the Swedish lead goal.
Rosengård's Bea Sprung lifted the ball behind the back line and Matilda Vinberg, everyday in Hammarby, nodded in one.
Near hat trick
Barely ten minutes later, the same Vinberg increased to 2-0 after an excellent pass from Evelina Duljan.
Vinberg then had the chance to score his third goal from close range, but the German goalkeeper saved.
Speaking of saves, the Swedish goalkeeper Serina Backmark stood for a real parade when Germany got the chance for a penalty in the 55th minute.
Sweden held off and eventually won 2-0 in the European Championship premiere.
In the next match, England awaits, on Thursday.
SVT broadcasts all of Sweden's matches as well as semi-finals and finals.
