Sprinter Jackson achieves the third fastest time in history in the 200 meters

Sherica Jackson set the third fastest time of all-time in the 200 metres, finishing in 21.55 seconds for a two-speed sprint at the Jamaican Athletics Championships last night in Kingston.

The 27-year-old added the 200m title to the 100m title she won on Friday.

Elaine Thompson-Hera finished second with a time of 22.05 seconds, while Shelley-Ann Fraser-Price finished third with a time of 22:14 seconds.

The late Florence Griffith Joyner set her long-standing world record of 21.34 seconds in 1988, while Thompson-Hera clocked 21:53 to set the double-speed record at the Tokyo Olympics last year, the two fastest times in history.

In response to a question, did you expect to record this time?

"Honestly no, I didn't expect to record this fast time," Jackson told Reuters.

Jackson, who won bronze in the 100 meters in Tokyo, was not entirely satisfied with the performance.

"In the next three weeks I will be working with coach Paul Francis to correct mistakes and improve some things," she added.

Andrew Hudson, who recently switched sides for Jamaica instead of the United States, won the men's 200 meters in 20.10 seconds, beating Yohan Blake in 20.31 and Nigel Ellis in 20.41.
