Weightlifting Federation of Ukraine urged not to vote for Agapitov in the IWF elections

The Ukrainian side sent a letter to the delegates of the election conference with the relevant requirements, TASS reports.

“We believe that Russian citizens have no place in sports and in weightlifting in particular.

We call on all national federations not to vote for Russian representatives in the IWF elections in Tirana,” the message says.

Recall that the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne allowed Russian representatives to participate in elections to the IWF leadership.

President of the Russian Weightlifting Federation (FTAR) Agapitov applied for the positions of vice president and member of the executive committee.

Members of the executive committee of the FTA, Alexander Kishkin and Dmitry Chernogorov, also apply for positions in the IWF.

The new president of the IWF was the representative of Iraq Jaloud Al-Shammari.

Earlier it was reported that Agapitov withdrew from the election of the President of the International Weightlifting Federation.
