Coaches come, coaches go.

In a results-based industry such as football, the pressure is great and sometimes changes are made to important positions to bring about a change.

Not least in the event of negative sporting results.

SVT Sport has, with the help of the statistics company Gracenote, produced figures regarding coach changes in the Allsvenskan from the last ten years (2012-2021).

The figures show that, due to negative sporting results, 36 coach changes were made in the middle of the current season.

There, the coach has resigned, been fired or agreed to break the contract.

On 25 of the occasions, where each coach has made at least five matches, an improved points harvest can be seen during the current season.

Ten of these times things have gone worse for the team in question and once the points average has not changed.

During this ten-year period, things went worst for Kalmar when they fired Nanne Bergstrand in 2018 and replaced him with Henrik Rydström.

The points average (points per match) went from 1.3 to 0.9.

Best outcome?

Djurgården 2013. Then Magnus Pehrsson left and Per Mathias-Högmo came in.

The average change was 0.2 to 1.8.
