Representatives of clubs in the ADNOC Professional League described the agenda for the new football season 2022-2023 as ideal, stressing during their attendance at the expanded workshop organized by the Professional League yesterday at the Meydan Hotel in Dubai, to reveal the new season calendar and discuss the amendments to the competition regulations, that they were hoping to increase the number of matches. Resident players, not foreigners, for the benefit of the league in particular and the Emirates football in general, especially after the new name for the category of resident players, which became “players qualified to represent the teams”, stressing at the same time that they respect the decision of the association because the increase in the number of foreign players will give the league great momentum and excitement.

They told "Emirates Today": "The workshop held by the Professional League was successful by all standards and was characterized by good preparation for the next season's calendar."

The workshop witnessed a discussion of the number of players participating in the competition, so that it will be 30 players instead of 36, by 20 players from the category of state citizens, state passport holders and children of female citizens, provided that they were born in 2006 and before, and a maximum of five players from the category of players qualified to represent the teams according to Specific restrictions, and a maximum of five foreign players without specifying nationality, provided that clubs are granted the right to register national players, passport holders, and children of female citizens in the fields designated for foreign players, residents, or those born in the country.

The season is scheduled to start with the first round of the ADNOC Professional League on September 2 and 3, and conclude on May 26 with the last round.

For his part, Al Ain team manager Ahmed Al Shamsi confirmed that their conversation during the workshop was that the UAE could lose distinguished players from the category of players qualified to represent the teams due to the presence of five foreign players, pointing out that “for us in Al Ain Club, we wished to increase the number of resident players.” On the field, not foreigners, but the view of the officials in the Professional League in this regard remains more comprehensive and broad to serve and enrich the competition,” noting that the League looks at the issue from a technical perspective.

In turn, the supervisor of the first team at Khorfakkan Club, Jamal Buhendi, described the workshop as successful, during which points were placed on the letters, pointing out that there was a response from officials in the association to the proposals submitted to it by the clubs, considering that the agenda of the new season set by the association is acceptable for them and that it could not be better than it was in light of the great momentum of competitions, whether at the local or Asian level, and in light of the establishment of the 2022 World Cup.

Jamal Buhendi added: “I had a note that instead of increasing the number of foreign players in the league to five and one player from the resident category, the number of foreign players could have been four and two residents, and I was hoping to increase the number of players qualified to represent the national teams, and from this name More attention should be given to this category.”

And the director of the first football team at Sharjah Club, Ahmed Mubarak, considered that most of the clubs were waiting for the calendar for the new season in order to arrange their affairs, pointing out that the association responded during the workshop to the opinions and proposals submitted by the clubs, considering that the association clarified some things that were ambiguous. for them.

"There is enough time for the clubs to draw up their plans for the new season based on this calendar," he added.

With regard to the increase in the number of foreign players, he stressed that all clubs look at things from their own perspective, considering that the increase in the number of resident players benefits the national teams, while the League looks at matters from another perspective because it is concerned with the strength of the league and its classification in addition to taking into account the team’s participation, considering that the presence of five foreign players It gives strength to the league.

Ahmed Mubarak saw that the association tried to create a kind of balance between the increase in the number of foreign players and the presence of a category of resident players.

For his part, Al Dhafra team manager Abdul Rahim Juma confirmed that they benefited from many things through their presence in the workshop, especially in terms of the new regulations, stressing that they wished to increase the number of resident players and increase the number of their participation, not to increase foreign players.
