Entries for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar have been expanded from 23 players per team to 26 players.

FIFA announced today (24th) that it has decided to amend the Qatar World Cup rules and expand the number of entries by up to three additional players per team.

Earlier this month, the International Football Association (IFAB) decided to increase the number of substitutes per team from 3 to 5 and the roster of substitutes from 12 to 15.

As a result, in the World Cup, each team can have a roster of 11 starting players and 15 substitutes.

The expansion of entry takes into account the impact of COVID-19 on the team.

In addition, the unusual timing of the tournament also had an impact on the World Cup.

The World Cup is usually held from June to July, but due to the hot weather in Qatar, this tournament will be held for the first time in November.

In European leagues, etc., this is when the season is in full swing.

FIFA has decided to increase the number of preliminary entries from 35 to 55.

The 26 players selected for the final roster can only compete in their respective teams until November 13th, after which they will join the national teams.

In World Cup matches, only 26 people, including 15 substitutes and 11 coaches per team, can sit on the bench.

This should include one medical staff.

FIFA also announced that the U-20 World Cup, which was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 outbreak, will be held in Indonesia from May 20 to June 11 next year.
