Bayern Munich, the German champions, announced today, Wednesday, that it has completed the procedures for contracting Senegal striker Sadio Mane from Liverpool for a period of 3 years.

Reports said Bayern had agreed to a deal worth around 40 million euros ($42.10 million), including add-ons for the 30-year-old, who had a year left on his contract with Liverpool.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer said, "Sadio Mane is a world star. He knows full well the value of Bayern and the nature of the competition in the German League."

As for Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern sporting director, he said after signing the contract, "For me, I had no doubts from the start (in signing Mane)."

Mane arrived in Germany yesterday, where he underwent a medical examination and wore the Bayern shirt, but the club did not announce the deal until after the official contract was signed.

Mane will leave Anfield after playing 269 games, scoring 120 goals in all competitions, and helping Liverpool win the Champions League title in the 2018-2019 season and the English Premier League a season later.

The Senegalese striker became Bayern's third deal before the start of the new season, after the arrival of the Ajax duo of Amsterdam: Ryan Grafenberg and Nassir Mazraoui.

Bayern won its tenth consecutive league title last season, extending its record, but failed to get past the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Mane was one of Liverpool's most prominent players last season, as he scored 23 goals to bring coach Jurgen Klopp's team to the local cup double, and compete for the Premier League title until the last minute before Manchester City settled it.
