American swimming star Caeleb Dressel dropped out of the starting list yesterday in the 100 meter freestyle trials.

The US Swimming Federation then said that it only applied to that discipline, but now the federation announces that the 25-year-old will not swim at the World Long Distance Championships in Budapest.

- After talking to Caeleb, his coach and medical staff, it has been decided that he will withdraw from the rest of the World Cup.

Our priority is and will always be the health of our athletes, and we will continue to provide Caeleb with the help he needs to recover quickly, the United States Swimming Federation said in a statement.

In addition to 100 meters freestyle, the fifteen-time world champion misses the opportunity to take medals in 100 meters butterfly, 50 meters freestyle and two team caps - 4x100 meters freestyle and 4x100 meters medley.

Earlier during the World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Dressel won two golds.
