A police operation against the fixing of

Second B and Third Division football matches and the Gibraltar National League

is underway and the arrest of at least fifteen people is expected for their alleged involvement in this criminal organization, as confirmed by EL MUNDO and has advanced

Members of the National Police are working on the dismantling of this organization dedicated to match-fixing in the field of

competitions of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF)

, obtaining great benefits through

sports betting

on matches with a

predetermined result.

The operation is carried out in

Badajoz, Seville, Almería and Cádiz

and for now there are ten detainees but it is estimated that there may be more than fifteen and among them would be active soccer players.

This is an

operation that began this Tuesday morning

, within the framework of an investigation that is open and

under summary secrecy

and that has the support of EUROPOL and INTERPOL, police sources have informed Europa Press.

The detainees are charged with the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization,

corruption

between individuals in the sports field and

fraud

against game operators.

This is a

new operation against alleged match-fixing linked to football

, in this case focused on an organization that had

been operating since at least May 2021

, when they were detected by the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling for the irregular behavior of the betting market on occasion of a Third Division match.

The organization was divided into several levels and was made up of soccer players who took advantage of their condition to organize sports fixes in teams under their influence.

Once the sporting event was predetermined, the organization placed bets on the

fixed matches obtaining "great profits"

, according to the aforementioned sources.
