DFB President Bernd Neuendorf cannot share FIFA boss Gianni Infantino's euphoria in Qatar a few months before the World Cup.
“First of all, I'm basically looking forward to the World Cup in terms of sport.
The whole circumstances are already such that they are certainly questionable.
It's an event where you say whether it will be the biggest and greatest event of all time - I would put a question mark behind it," Neuendorf said in a digital media session on Monday.
FIFA President Infantino always speaks in superlatives about the tournament, which will take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December.
"It will be the best World Cup ever and it will unite the Arab world," Infantino predicted recently.
The 60-year-old Neuendorf did not want to allow himself a judgment on the controversial FIFA boss.
“I can see that Infantino has been criticized in one place or another.
It is controversial in parts.
It's important to talk to him personally," said the DFB official.
