To the tune of the metal band Disturbeds cover on "Sound of silence", Clara Ternström was responsible for a stable effort in Budapest.

Her free solo program, which in contrast to the technical part consists of elements the swimmer himself selected, was rewarded with the score 72.4 - not far from the personal record of 73.3 from the European Championships last year.

The performance was enough for a 21st place out of a total of 28 starters, where the 12 best went on to the final.

The competition was Clara Ternström's third at the WC, which helped against the championship nerves.

- I had a good feeling and did not feel so nervous actually.

I was mentally involved and have done some competitions now so I could imagine more how it would feel before, she says.

Historic Japanese one again

The best in today's attempt was the Japanese Yukiko Inui with a score of 94.6.

She has shown great form so far at the championship, won Saturday's final in the solo class' technical program and thus became historic as the first Japanese to swim home an individual World Cup gold in art swimming.

And to be able to compete against the very best is something that inspires, says Clara Ternström.

- It is an incredible inspiration, great fun to see them and their level, what you can strive for.

It's awesome.

The main thing I have identified is this extra power that some people possess, that they really stretch in all movements.

For her part, the World Cup in the solo class is over for this time.

But already tomorrow, the next competition awaits the 20-year-old from Täby, when she and Anna Högdal swim the trial session in the park class' free program.
